4 civilians killed in Helmand car bombing
LASHKARGAH (PAN): Four civilians were killed and 34 others, including foreigners, were wounded in a suicide car bombing in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province, officials said on Thursday.
Foreigners were among those wounded in the attack near the governor's house. The British Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) said the blast targeted a convoy of its civilian employees, injuring two foreigners and destroying two vehicles.
Dr. Enayatullah Ghafari, the Helmand Civil Hospital director, confirmed receiving 34 injured people from the area. He said 20 of the injured were referred to Emergency and 14 others to Bust Hospitals.
Ahmadi said the explosion destroyed 17 vehicles and two motorbikes, besides smashing windowpanes in nearby houses and offices. Two ASI workers, an engineer and a guard, as well as a child and a passer-by, were killed in the blast.
