KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): A newly-established heath clinic, a US military-funded project, was inaugurated in the Maroof district of southern Kandahar province on Wednesday, officials said.
The single-storey hospital having five rooms was constructed in one year at a cost of $200,000 (9,844,000afs), Director of Public Health Dr. Abdul Qayyum Pukhla told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The clinic would provide round-the-clock services to patients and 15 doctors would be appointed to it, he said. Patients would also undergo minor operations at the facility, Pukhla added.
Abdul Samad Durrani, the town’s administrative head, said the district already had a clinic, but that could not meet residents’ requirements. He hoped the new facility would help resolve people’s problems.
More than 2, 000, 00 people living in the district used to take their patients to other areas for treatment, he said.
