MAHMOOD RAQI (PAN): The High Peace Council in central Kapisa province on Thursday urged the media to help the body make the reconciliation plan a success and asked militants to arrive at the negotiation table.

The call came at a meeting of the council in the provincial capital, Mahmood Raqi. The participants asked media representatives in Kapisa, Parwan and Panjsher provinces to support their efforts at bringing peace and stability in the region.

“Media can bring a positive change in thinking of people,” said the council head, Maulvi Momin Muslim.

“It is the duty of all Afghans to work for peace and bring our annoyed brothers to peace talks,” he said, adding they need media support in this regard.

The Baktash Radio Director in Kapisa told the meeting they were trying to convince the militants into joining the peace parleys. “We want an end to the war and peace in our country,” he added.

According to the Nijrab Radio director, Dr. Matlab, they wanted to intensify efforts at securing peace in the region.
