MAHMOOD RAQI (PAN): Unknown gunmen shot dead two students and injured three others, including a teacher, in the central province of Kapisa, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the Tatarkhel area of Tagab district on Tuesday evening when the high school graduates (12th grade) and their teacher were returning from a university entry test, the Tagab district chief said.

Abdul Hakim Akhunzada told Pajhwok Afghan News two students were killed on the spot, and the injured, two students and a teacher, were evacuated by police to a health) in Mahmood Raqi.

The identity of the attackers was unknown, the deputy director of education, Abdul Rahman Safi, said.

 “I heard gunshots at 7pm,” a tribal elder in the area, Shamim, said, adding he saw two dead bodies and three wounded people at the scene.

It was the first-ever attack on students in the province since March, 2011.
