NIELI (PAN): Bodies of two persons who were buried under snow have been recovered in the Miramor district of central Daikundi province on Wednesday, a day after avalanches hit the area, officials said.

Three people were killed, two others injured and as many went missing after avalanches triggered by heavy snowfall struck the Kata Seb area on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, an injured person and two dead bodies were recovered from the snow, Tela Hussain Farzam, the town’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

More than 40 people, including women and children, who were trapped in the snow had been rescued by the security personnel and area people, Habibullah Radmanish, the deputy governor said.

He added the recent snowstorms and avalanches had claimed the lives of five people and injured three others in the province.
