JALALABAD (PAN): Unidentified gunmen shot dead an appellant court judge along with his wife and son in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Sunday.
Four more members of the judge’s family were injured in the attack that took place in the Cheno area of Khogiani district late on Saturday, the town’s administrative head told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Mohammad Hassan said Basir, the appellant court judge for Kunar province, was killed on the spot, while his wife and son succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
The assailants fled the scene, but security forces had launched a search operation to arrest them, the district chief said.
Mohammad Ashraf Amin, the Kunar appellant court head, confirmed the incident, saying Basir was a judge of the criminal court.
Dr. Syed Afandi, the civil hospital director, said they had received six injured people, including a woman and four children below 10 years.
