KABUL (PAN): One Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier and 10 insurgents were killed in different parts of the country over the past 24 hours, interior and defence ministries said on Monday.
A statement from the interior ministry said News insurgents were killed during police operations in Kabul, Helmand Paktika and Farah provinces on Sunday.
Three insurgents were captured and two Kalashnikovs, one pistol, 11 roadside bombs, 16 hand grenades, 25 heavy guns, 1,300 small bullets, 90 kilograms of ammonium nitrate and about six tonnes of opium seized in the operations.
It added 10 landmines, two missile shells, a rocket launcher and two hand grenades were recovered in Nangarhar, Balkh, Kandahar, Helmand and Khost provinces.
Two bombs and a mortar shell were seized by ANA soldiers during operations in Helmand and Kandahar provinces, the defense ministry said. One soldier was killed and another wounded on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway.
Two other soldiers were injured in Musa Qala district of Helmand and Zherai district of Kandahar. The ministry said seven insurgents were killed, two wounded and 18 others detained in different parts of the country.
