JALALABAD (PAN): Up to 1,300 deserving families received winter assistance from the departments of rural rehabilitation and returnee affairs in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Monday.
Food items and warm clothes were distributed to 1,040 households in 11 districts of the province, Rural Rehabilitation Director Maroof Sadat told Pajhwok Afghan News. The aid distribution was based on a recent survey.
Refugee Affairs Director Ghulam Haidar Faqirzai said similar assistance was distributed to 163 families that recently returned to the Sheikh Masri town of Surkhrod district and 82 households in Batikot.
Labor and Social Affairs Director Abdul Hakim Sherzad said nearly 500 poor students of schools and kindergartens would be given pens, notebooks, food items and toys, donated by a female philanthropist.
