New book on Afghanistan launched
KABUL (PAN): The Afghan embassy in Washington hosted a book launch party to celebrate Mrs. Caroline Firestone’s latest book, Afghans and Americans United, the embassy said.
Afghans and Americans United profiles various American diplomats, business leaders and non-profit organisations that are dedicated to improving the lives of Afghans, as well as important female Afghan leaders who are making a difference.
Ambassador Eklil Hakimi expressed his deep appreciation for Mrs. Firestone’s commitment to helping the people of Afghanistan. “While we express our thanks and appreciation to the US, I would like to offer my special thanks to Mrs. Caroline Firestone for her devotion …”
Sultana Hakimi, Ambassador Hakimi’s spouse, said: “Through beautiful stories and images Afghans and Americans United demonstrates the progress that Afghanistan has achieved with the help of Americans…”
Over fifty books were sold at the event and the proceeds went to the American University of Afghanistan in Kabul, which is raising funds to develop the International Centre for Afghan Women’s Economic Development.
