LASHKARGAH (PAN): Two members of a family were killed and a third injured when a house caved in due to heavy rains in the southern province of Helmand, officials said on Saturday.
The incident took place at 4am when a ground-floor roof of the house collapsed in the Safyan area on the outskirts of Lashkargah, a police officer, Col. Mohammad Ismael Hotak, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A mother and her 13-year-old son were killed and her husband wounded in the incident, he said. Police rushed the area to retrieve the victims from the debris and take them to hospital.
A doctor on duty at the Emergency Hospital in the provincial capital confirmed receiving an injured man whose condition was stable.
