KABUL): Hundreds of people trapped inside their vehicles due to a flash flood were rescued in northern Faryab province on Tuesday, an official said.

The flooding, triggered by heavy snowfall and rains, marooned about 300 vehicles in Pashtonkot and Bal Charagh districts, acting Governor Abdul Sattar Barez told Pajhwok Afghan News.

However, a team of the provincial natural disaster management committee rescued the individuals, he said. A seven kilometers stretch of the road was destroyed by the flood.

So far 9,000 acres of agriculture land, gardens and 25 houses have been swept away by floods that killed over 400 domestic animals in the district, officials said
