LASHKARGAH (PAN): Seven militants were among 14 people killed in two separate bomb explosions in the southern province of Helmand, officials said on Tuesday.
An explosives-filled jerry cane the rebels were placing in their car went off in the Nawzad district on Monday night, the governor’s spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Daud Ahmadi said Taliban Abdullah, and six of his associates were killed on the spot and three others wounded in the blast. Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
Also in Helmand, seven members of a family were killed by their own bomb in the Surkhdarz area of Nad Ali district, police officer Col. Mohammad Ismail Hotak said. A woman and six children were killed.
The house where the blast took place belongs to Mullah Manan, who allegedly has links to the Taliban, Hotal added. Mullah Manan escaped unhurt in the explosion. Security personnel were sent to the area to investigate the incident.
