KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Arranged by the Czech Provincial Reconstructioninfo-icon Team (PRTinfo-icon), a training course for prison staff began in Pul-i-Alam, the capital of central Logar province, the team said on Wednesday.

Aimed to introduce basic procedures related to prison maintenance, the lessons are focused on escorting prisoners, security in jail facilities and searching techniques, a statement from the PRT said.

"We want to teach our students that they can treat the prisoners effectively, but with respect to their dignity and healthinfo-icon," said Robert Káčer, head of the training team of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic.

Hiydatullah Wahdat, one of the 30 trainees, said: “I have been working for the prison service for eight years. During that time, I went through two trainings conducted by foreign instructors and I have to say that this one is the most interesting.“

The main impetus for the training was construction of the new prison in Pul-i-Alam, the statement said, adding the project was funded from the budget of Czech Republic and supervised by PRT.

Constructed according to the Afghan law and international rules determined by the International Committee of the Red Cross, the facility will offer enough space for some 120 persons.
