Wheat distributed to 4,000 Jawzjan families
SHIBERGHAN (PAN): Wheat was distributed to 4,000 poor families by the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Rural Development (MRRD) in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Tuesday.
Up to 1,700 tonnes of wheat grains were distributed in Shiberghan, the provincial capital, Khwaja Dukoh and Aqcha districts, Director of Rehabilitation and Rural Development En. Mohammad Yosuf Syed told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Each family received three 50-kilogram sacks of wheat, with thousands of households set to be assisted in the second phase. Mohammad Haleem, a resident of Shiberghan, was happy over receiving the assistance, saying his crops had been affected by last year’s drought.
