The president called the explosion in the Spin Boldak border town a cowardly act against civilians by the enemies of Afghanistan, a reference to the Taliban.
The incident took place at around 10:30am when an explosives-rigged motorcycle exploded at the dry port near the Afghanistan-Pakistan friendship gate.
A statement from his office quoted the president as saying: “This terrorist attack is an anti-Islamic act of Afghanistan’s enemies who are intent upon killing Muslims.”
Karzai extended his condolences to victims’ families and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
