KABUL Twenty20 Qualifiers being played in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, an official said.

An Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) official, Farid Hotak, told Pajhwok Afghan News Holland won the toss and elected to bat in the 20 overs game, scoring 149 runs for the loss of six wickets, with Afghan bowler Daulat Zadran taking three wickets.

Karim Saddiq and Samiullah Shinwari shared one wicket each, he said, adding the Afghans chased the target in the 20th over, thanks to Shahzad Mohammadi’s heroic play. Mohammadi who made 54 runs was declared the man of the match. Mohammad Nabi made 22 runs.

It was a second victory for the Afghan side after outclassing Papua New Guinea (PNG) by six wickets in their first match on Tuesday. Afghanistan take on Denmark on Thursday.

The winners will join Australia and the West Indies in Group B of the ICC World Twenty20 Cup to be hosted by Sri Lanka in September. The losing finalist will complete Group A that includes defending champions England and 2007 winners India.
