Taliban kill 5 policemen, seize as many in Kunar

ASADABAD (PAN insurgents during a clash between both sides in the eastern province of Kunar, an official said on Friday.

Provincial police chief, Col. Ghulamullah Nuristani, told Pajhwok Afghan News, that the clash erupted in Badin and Badmok areas of Bargimatal district of the province, which lasted till midnight.

In the violent conflict two policemen were also wounded and five are reported missing, while four Taliban fighters were killed and several injured, he added.

Although bodies of the dead militants were discovered, insurgents had taken their wounded fighters away, he said.

Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed they had killed the policemen and also captured nine others.
