Kabul):  The Turkish embassy expressed profound sympathy over its 12 military personnel and two Afghan nationals who perished in a helicopter crash on Friday morning outside Kabul.

“We have learned with great sadness the martyrdom of 12 Turkish military personnel, who lost their lives in the crash, one of the helicopters which served under the command of the Kabul Regional Command (RCC), which Turkey leads within the framework of ISAF.

“We would like to extend to the bereaved relatives of our martyrs, to the Turkish Armed Forces, and to our nation, our condolences.”

”We also wish God’s mercy upon our Afghan brothers, who lost their lives in this terrible accident, and a speedy recovery to those wounded, while extending our condolences to the Afghan nation,” said a statement released by Turkish Embassy in Kabul.

Regardless of the tragedy, Turkey assured its steadfast support to Afghanistan to establish peace and stability in the country.

In the ill-fated Friday morning mishap, a dozen Turkish soldiers, including two Afghan women translators on board the chopper were killed, while another two women and a child in the house were wounded.

The crash happened after the helicopter developed some technical problems and went down in Bagrami district.
