KABUL): Two militants were killed and 26 others detained over the past 24 hours in separate operation across the country, the Ministry of Interior said on Thursday.
AT least one fighter was injured in the operations by Afghan and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops in Nangarhar, Uruzgan, Ghazni and Herat provinces.
A statement for the ministry said a suspected rebel was caught red-handed while planting a roadside bomb in the Kohistanat district of Sar-i-Pul province. Police seized a jerry cane full of explosives in Kandahar and Helmand provinces.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence announced the recovery 16 landmines, three hand grenades, some explosives and 20 batteries by Afghan soldiers, who also detained 15 suspects.
