TIRINKOT (PAN): The first-ever public sector university was inaugurated in the central province of Uruzgan on Wednesday, officials said. Currently, the university has only the education faculty
The deputy governor, parliamentarians, the chancellor of Kandahar University, education officials and students participated in the inaugural ceremony.
Deputy Governor Khudai Rahim Khan called the university a huge achievement in the education sector for Uruzgan residents.
The university would play a key role in educating poor students, could not to afford living in other provinces, he hoped, asking the people to cooperate with effort at expanding the institution.
Chancellor of Kandahar University Hazrat Mir Totakhel congratulated Uruzgan residents on the opening of the university, which would have several faculties in coming years.
Najibullah, a student of the education faculty, said that he could not continue his studies in another province due to financial problems. He believed the university would help improve the literacy rate in Uruzgan.
