MAIMANA (PAN): A judge has been arrested by intelligence operatives on bribery charges in western Faryab province, officials said on Thursday.
Habibullah Wasiq, the appellant court chief, was detained by National Directorate of Security (NDS) officials, the acting court head, Abdul Muqim Muqim, confirmed to Pajhwok afghan News.
Without going into details, Muqim said Wasiq was arrested red-handed while accepting a bribe from a resident of Ghormach district.
Another court official, wishing anonymity, said Wasiq had been offered 45,000 afghanis ($900.54) in bribe by a man from Ghormach.
The anti-corruption section head at the Attorney General’s Office in Kabul, Hafizullah Hafiz, confirmed Wasiq’s arrest, saying an AG representative had been sent to the province to investigate the allegation.
