Roadside blast kills NATO-led soldier

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): An International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) soldier was killed in a roadside boming in the troubled south, the alliance said on Friday.

The servicemember’s death was announced in a brief statement from the NATOinfo-icon-led force that neither revealed the victim’s nationality nor the exact location of Thursday’s blast.

Most of the foreign soldiers deployed to the Talibaninfo-icon’s southern heartland are Americans, who have borne the brunt of NATO casualties during the decade-long conflict.

With the latest fatality, the number of foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistaninfo-icon this year has risen to 102.  Last year, 556 ISAF troops were killed in the country.
