KABUL) soldier was killed in a roadside boming in the troubled south, the alliance said on Friday.

The servicemember’s death was announced in a brief statement from the NATO-led force that neither revealed the victim’s nationality nor the exact location of Thursday’s blast.

Most of the foreign soldiers deployed to the Taliban’s southern heartland are Americans, who have borne the brunt of NATO casualties during the decade-long conflict.

With the latest fatality, the number of foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan this year has risen to 102.  Last year, 556 ISAF troops were killed in the country.
