2 militants, bodyguards killed in Kandahar attack
KANDAHAR CITY (PAN):Two militants, armed with suicide vest and weapons, were killed on Saturday when they stormed Kandahar governor’s office, an official said.
In the incident that took place at about 11am, two governor's bodyguards were also killed in the shootout and another injured, Dr. Parwez Najib, the governor’s office head, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The attackers, dressed in simple traditional outfits, entered the governor's office and started firing, but were shot dead by security forces.
Governor Tooryali Weesa was in his office but said to be safe.
Some high-level officials were also present in the governor’s office when the militants striked.
