KABUL): A suicide bomber blew himself up when a joint Afghan-international troops convoy passed by near Zaranj, the capital of southwestern Nimroz province, injuring five people, including two Americans, police said on Saturday.
The bomber on foot detonated explosives strapped to his body soon after the convoy approached at about 5pm in the Shuhada area, deputy police chief Abdul Raziq Quarishi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said five people, including two civilians, as many foreign troops and a policeman, were injured in the blast.
He said the attacker also used a handcart with a gas cylinder on it when he approached the joint convoy of Afghan police and American soldiers in the Pul-i-Abrishm locality, five kilometers west of the city.
The bomber targeted a police vehicle in which Americans soldiers were also travelling.
The civil hospital director, Saifuddin, confirmed receiving five injured people at the hospital from the scene, saying the condition of a policeman and an American soldier was critical.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.
