A statement from Karzai’s spokesman office said Finland’s Eero Heinäluoma met Karzai at the Presidential Palace in the afternoon.
During the meeting, Karzai recalled that relations between the two countries that dated back to 1925, when the first agreement on friendship was signed between the two nations. Diplomatic contacts between the two nations increased in 1954.
Describing education as key to Afghanistan’s development, the president said his government wanted to take advantage of Finland’s experience in this sector.
For his part, the visiting dignitary assured all possible assistance the Finish government could extend to the Afghan government in diverse fields.
