CHARIKAR): Two civilians and a fighter were killed and five other insurgents wounded during a clash in central province of Parwan, officials said on Friday.
The clash erupted late on Thursday night when the militants attacked the Sya Gard district headquarters and two checkpoints, the town’s administrative chief said.
Mohammad Said Siddiqui told Pajhwok Afghan News one fighter was killed and a second wounded in the clash sparked by an attack on the district headquarters.
A commander and three members of the public order police were also wounded in the gunbattle, he said, adding two drivers of ISAF suppl vehicles were killed.
The militants set alight two logistic supply vehicles and abducted a driver and conductor.
Rockets fired by militants landed around the district headquarters, causing no losses. The provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akram Bekzad, confirmed the attack.
Residents could not come out of their homes during the clash that ended on Friday morning, said a resident of the district, Mohammad Masoom Mujaddedi. The wreckage of the supply vehicles were seen at the site, he concluded.
