4 suspected Taliban detained in Zabul

QALAT (PAN during a joint operation by Afghan and foreign troops in southern Zabul province, officials said on Friday.

The operation was conducted on Friday morning against Taliban commander Mullah Shakoor in a mountainous area Shahr-i-Safa district, siad the administrative head of the town.

Khadi Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News that four suspected Taliban fighters were killed, but the fate of commander was not yet known. There were no civilian casualties in the offensive, he said.

But a statement from ISAF confirmed the operation, saying they had detained a Taliban commander and several of his fighters. The detainee was allegedly involved in attacking Afghan and international forces and organised suicide assaults in the Daman district of Kandahar.
