KABUL): In a successful anti-poppy drive, 46 drug traffickers were nabbed and over 100 hectares of land were cleared of the illicit crop in central Kabul province, the 101st Asmayee police zone said in a statement.

With the anti-narcotic campaign carried out by the 101st Asmayee police zone and counternarcotics authority of Sarobi district, poppy crops spread over 100 hectares were destroyed in less than two weeks, said the statement.

It said the operation would continue until the whole district was cleared of the illicit crops.

According to the country’s narcotics ministry, poppy were mostly cultivated in areas that were out of the government’s control.

The statement said nine kilogrammes of heroin, 83 kg hashish and 100 bottles of alcoholics, 28 mobile phones, three vehicles and some money were seized over the past month in Kabul city.
