KABUL (MoHE), had provided almost 150 fully financed scholarships to Afghan students from 2002 to 2010, the embassy said on Tuesday.

The scholarship programme is aimed to contribute to the capacity-building of Afghans by training high-level junior experts, the embassy said in a press release.

Since the signing of the friendship and cooperation agreement and of the associated cooperation programme by Afghan President Hamid Karzai and his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy, on January 27, both the nations were very keen to train Afghans in agriculture, higher education, rule of law and culture sectors, it added.

MoHE appreciated the French assistance in form of skills provision and training the young Afghan professionals for future building, the release said.

Paris granted up to 20 scholarships for masters studies and a number of PhD scholarships to Afghan students in France this year, the embassy said, adding successful candidates would be sent to France within next three months.
