Pakistan renews commitment to Afghan peace
ISLAMANAD (PAN): Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari did not attend the just-concluded Chicago summit to promote his personal interest, but to join international efforts at bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.
“A stable and peaceful Afghanistan in the larger interest of Pakistan,” Foreign Office spokesman Muazzam Ahmad told a press conference in Islamabad.
Rejecting claims that Pakistan was fueling the insurgency in Afghanistan, the official said Islamabad had played a significant role in bringing peace and stability to the war-torn country.
