Pakistan renews commitment to Afghan peace

Pakistan renews commitment to Afghan peace

May 24, 2012 - 20:44

ISLAMANAD (PANinfo-icon): Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari did not attend the just-concluded Chicago summit to promote his personal interest, but to join international efforts at bringing peace and stability to Afghanistaninfo-icon, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.

“A stable and peaceful Afghanistan in the larger interest of Pakistaninfo-icon,” Foreign Office spokesman Muazzam Ahmad told a press conference in Islamabad.

Rejecting claims that Pakistan was fueling the insurgency in Afghanistan, the official said Islamabad had played a significant role in bringing peace and stability to the war-torn country.
