Would-be bomber among 3 shot dead in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (PAN militants, including a would-be suicide attacker, were killed in Mian Nashin district of southern Kandahar province, officials said on Monday.

The militants had planned to attack police patrolling in Zailand and Lowari areas of the district first and then the district chief, but were shot dead before reaching their targets, Javed Faisal, a spokesman for the governor told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Police also recovered arms and explosives that were in their possession, he added.

Meanwhile, police seized 60 kilogrammes explosives in Khakrez district that were planted by militants along a road, Faisal added.
