KABUL): Journalists in central Kabul province on Thursday strongly denounced a rocket attack that hit the house of a Pajhwok Afghan News reporter in central Logar province.
The shell landed inside the house of Maqsud Azizi, but no one was hurt in the incident that came on Wednesday night in the Purk village on the outskirts of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital.
In a statement, the Afghanistan Independent Journalist Union denounced the attack and said such incidents challenged the freedom of journalism.
It was a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) that partially damaged Azizi’s house, fortunately causing no casualties, the statement said, asking the Taliban and government forces to spare journalists during their operations.
A Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone that the fighters were not involved in the attack that targeted the journalist’s home. He added they had launched an investigation into the incident to identify the culprits.
