District spy chief shot dead

ASADABAD (PAN) chief for Dangam district was shot dead by unknown gunman in eastern Kunar province, said an official on Monday.

The shooting took place early in the morning when the assailant opened fire on Ghulam Habib in the district centre, said governor’s spokesperson, Wasifullah Wasifi. 

The NDS officer died on the spot and the killer managed to escape. Police had launched a manhunt for the killer, he added.

Meanwhile, a Taliban spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, said they killed Habib in an early morning ambush.
