Ghor floods kill 31 people
Three districts Tolak, Shahrak, Dulainah and Dawlat Shah and the provincial capital Chaghcharan, faced rising waters for three consecutive days, from Tuesday to Thursday, Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA), provincial head Hamidullah Dadfar told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said 31 people, including women and children, lost their lives and the floods destroyed large swaths of farmland, damaged hundreds of houses, roads and canals, said Dadfar.
The exact number of casualties and losses would be identified by a committee later, he said, adding that they have no resources to assist the flood victims and had sought help from the central office in Kabul.
A resident of Dawlatyar district, Gul Mohammad, said that five acres of his farmland, where he panted wheat and potatoes were washed away by the floods.
