WASHINGTON (PAN that would be hosted by India in New Delhi later this week, a US official said Monday.

“We have more than a dozen American companies participating in the conference to explore investment opportunities, including big companies like DuPont, Price Waterhouse Cooper, General Electric, ExxonMobil,” the State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland told reporters at a press conference.

“So we think this is an excellent initiative to strengthen private sector investment to strengthen regional links and it shows great leadership on the Indian government’s part,” added Nuland.

About 40 countries are expected to attend the summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi on June 28th.

“We have encouraged our firms interested in Afghanistan to participate,” Nuland said.
