KABUL): President Hamid Karzai has called on the nation to keep houses and streets clean and avoid throwing garbage into the streets and alleys because the risk of infectious diseases increases in summer.
In his radio address to the nation aired last night, Karzai called cleanliness a good habit, which can protect people from various diseases.
Karzai said:”Flies increase in our environment in summer, sometimes strong and dusty winds result in the transfer of germs from one area to another, causing seasonal diseases like vomiting, fever and diarrhea among people.”
The president called for adopting precautionary measures during summer and protecting children from sunstrokes, saying if a family member was found infected with a disease, he/she should immediately be taken to a health facility.
