KABUL National Front (ANF)’s leader Gen. Abdur Rashid Dostum on Saturday refused to reply a Ministry of Defence (MoD)’s letter that calls on him to quit political activities, insisting his government’s duty has nothing to do with the ministry.
Last week, Gen. Abdur Rashid Dostum, also the military supreme commanders’ chief of staff, was asked by the defence ministry through a letter that government servants could not pursue political activities under the constitution.
But Dostum’s office in a statement issued to Pajhwok Afghan News on Saturday said the office of military supreme commander’s chief of staff was superior over all ministries and security organs and the office did not belong to the defence ministry.
“The letter was a serious blunder on the part of defence ministry and we hope such mistakes will not be repeated in future,” the statement said.
The statement quoted Dostum as saying he did not respond to the letter because it had no legal basis.
