US will try to maintain Afghan funding level: Clinton
Speaking at the Tokyo Conference on Sunday, Clinton told donor countries, gathered in Japan to raise billions of dollars to help sustain Afghan’s fragile economy, the amount would be roughly close to what the US is channeling now.
But she did not mention a specific sum.
"It has to be measured whether people have jobs and economic opportunity and they believe the government is meeting their needs and the US funds will help build Afghanistan’s economy," she told participants adding the one-day conference.
President Hamdi Karzai had announced that his government would need about $4 billion annually to support its economy after NATO-led troops pullout from the country after 2014.
