GHAZNI CITY (PAN): The attorney general office head was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on his way to the office in the southern province of Ghazni on Monday morning, said an official.
Deputy Governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the gunmen opened fire at Sahar Gul at about 8.30 am while he was travelling to his office in Ghazni City, the provincial capital.
He added the attackers managed to flee the scene and police had launched a search for the killers, who also wounded a schoolgirl in the attack.
Ghazni Civil Hospital Director Dr Baz Mohammad confirmed receiving Sahar’s body at the hospital.
As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the killing. The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the movement’s members carried out the assault.
An eyewitness, Atta Mohammad, said three men sitting in a Corolla car fired at the victim and sped away.
