MEHTARLAM (PAN’s affairs director of eastern Laghman province was killed along with her spouse in a roadside bomb attack on Friday, an official said.
Eleven people were wounded in the explosion that took place in front of the Azizi Bank in Mehtarlam, the provincial capital, at 9am, the governor’s spokesman said.
Sarhadi Zwak told Pajhwok Afghan News that the victim, Hanifa Sapi, came under attack on the way to her office. However, he did not blame anyone for planting the bomb.
Laghman Civil Hospital Director Abdul Latif Qayyumi confirmed receiving 11 injured people from the blast scene. Three of the wounded were in critical condition, he said.
Last year, Sapi resigned as a provincial council member to take over as women’s affairs director. Simultaneously, she was a third year student of the Political Science faculty at the Ariana University in Jalalabad.
