HERAT CITY (PAN): Twenty one militants joined the peace process in western province of Herat and surrendered their weapons to the authorities, said an official on Saturday.

Led by Mullah Zarghoon district.

Provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Syed Aqa Saqib quoted Razzaq as saying since foreign troops were scheduled to leave the country, the group decided to support Afghan security forces.

With the recent group embracing peace, the total number of militants who have surrendered in Herat has reached 632.

Since the creation of the High Peace Council, more than 4,800 insurgents have given up violence across the country.
