TIRINKOT (PAN): A district police chief was killed along with five colleagues during a roadside bombing in the central province of Uruzgan, an official said on Friday.

The Sarab district police head and his subordinates where killed on Thursday night when their vehicle struck the roadside bomb in the area, a police spokesman said.

Farid Ayel told Pajhwok Afghan News no one had been detained so far in connection with the remote-controlled bombing of the police patrol.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but the Taliban are often blamed for assaults on security forces and other government officials.
