SHARAN (PAN’s Affairs was inaugurated in Sharan, the capital of southeastern Paktika province, on Friday.

Opening the building, Governor Mohibullah Samim called the $300,000 (15 million afs) project a major stride toward resolving the problems facing Paktika’s women.

With the inauguration of the project, he hoped workers of the department would better focus on their job. It would also help improve living standards for women, he believed.

In the near future, vocational training programmes would be arranged to enable women to support themselves and their families financially, the governor announced.

Director of Women’s Affairs Bibi Hawa Khoshiwal said the six-month project had resolved their space problem that previuously had a negative effect on their performance.

Funded by the relevant ministry, the two-storey building is spread over an acre of land. The 11-room directorate is equpped with all requite facilities, according to the director.
