ASADABAD (PAN on Sunday fired at least 255 missiles into three districts of eastern Kunar province, a senior official said.
The missiles landed in Shegal, Narai and Dangam districts, injuring three people and damaging property, the governor said.
Syed Fazlullah Wahidi told Pajhwok Afghan News the missiles were fired by Pakistani forces over the past 24 hours.
At least 120 missiles were slammed into Narai, as many into Dangam and 15 into Shegal, he alleged, saying a woman and three children were wounded in Narai.
A resident of the Dangam, Wahidullah, said a number of families had left their houses due to the missile barrages. The displaced families faced numerous problems in the fasting month, he added.
He said more than a hundred missiles were fired into border villages. The resident urged the government and the international community to take urgent steps to end the flare-up.
Over the past 45 days, hundreds of missiles, rockets and artillery shells had been fired into Kunar, killing and wounding 36 people, including women and children.
On Sunday, Afghan Chief of Army Staff Gen. Sher Mohammad Karimi presented a report on the shelling to a meeting of the National Security Council, chaired by President Karzai.
