CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): Work on a US-funded recreational park, the first of its kind in western Ghor province, was launched on Monday, an official said.
With a two-month timescale, the project will be completed at a cost of $180,000, to be provided by the United States International Development Agency.
City Mayor Mohammad Osman Ismat the one square kilometre park would have a green area, basketball and volleyball courts, shops and special recreation areas for children and women.
The facility, where a mosque has already been built, will be supplied water through a solar energy system. Previously, it received water from a deep well and a river, located 300 metres from the site.
