ISLAMABAD (PAN.

The most recent cross-border attacks took place in Dir and Bajaur tribal regions respectively on June 24 and July 12 this year, a spokesman for the foreign ministry said in Islamabad.

In a statement, he said: “These cross-border attacks were successfully repulsed. Special care was exercised to limit fire only to areas from where the terrorists attacked our border posts.”

He added the incursions into Pakistan were under active discussion with ISAF, including through the Border Coordination Mechanism, as part of the ongoing coordination and cooperation between the two sides on mutual respect and mutual interest.

Also on Tuesday, senior Afghan security officials informed the Senate that the Pakistani Army and intelligence service were behind continuing rocket and missile strikes attacks into eastern Kunar province.

Interior Minister Bismillah Mohammadi, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Sher Mohammad Karimi and National Directorate of Security deputy head (operations) Dr. Zia appeared before the Meshrano Jirga to brief lawmakers on the incursions.

Mohammadi said so far one thousand rockets had been fired into Dangam, Narai, Sarkano and Marawara districts of Kunar. A government delegation found the Pakistan army and intelligence were behind the attacks, the minister added.
