AIBAK (PAN): Nearly 3,000 families would be given 22.5 million afghanis food aid by the World Food Program (WFP) in northern Samangan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Deputy Governor Ghulam Sakhi Baghlani told Pajhwok Afghan News the families had been surveyed by the WFP in Aibak, the capital of the province.
He said the households would receive on a monthly basis food items worth 1,250 afghanis, including flour, rice, oil, bean, sugar and salt from 10 designated shops in the city.
The aid distribution process would last six months, Baghlani said, promising that about 12,000 more deserving households in the districts would be given similar assistance.
