MAIMANA (PAN): Four people were killed and as many others wounded when a car overturned in the northern province of Faryab, officials said on Saturday.

The incident took place late on Friday night when a vehicle travelling from Maimana to Sherin Tagab district veered off the road and crashed into a crowd of people in Faizabad village, said traffic police officer Mohammad Halim.

All the dead were locals taking a walk, while four people in the car, including the driver, were wounded in the accident, the district chief, Syed Loqman Gahreek, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Linking the crash to reckless driving, he said the injured were evacuated to a nearby hospital. The car driver was arrested by police.
