HERAT CITY (PAN): Four civilians were killed and nine others, including three policemen, were wounded in a bomb blast that ripped through a busy marketplace in the western province of Herat, officials said on Saturday.
The bomb was under a small bridge and exploded at 8am when people started coming to the bazaar for Eid shopping in the Shindand district, deputy police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Hamid Hamidi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The blast left four people dead and nine others, including two local policemen and a national policeman, injured, he confirmed.
However, Shindand district hospital chief Dr. Allah Din Himmat, said they had received two dead bodies and 11 injured people, including two policemen and a woman
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.
